ambiguous future

Ambiguous Future is a film production company based in Austin, Texas dedicated to producing and filming independent films and shorts.

When I was first developing the concept for this mark I went right for the obvious. I tried manipulating film reels and cameras coming up with nothing even close to original when the word dawned on me…concept. “Why aren’t you thinking of this conceptually when the most obvious direction (the name of the company) begs for a mark to match?” I then explored themes in film that suggest ambiguity or “the unknown” and thought of a blinding point of light. Something that obscures the moving images to the viewer and provides ambiguity or alteration to what can be seen or known. This concept set off my exploration of this idea and translating it into a mark. I found this project exceptionally challenging but the most fun I have had brainstorming and experimenting within this medium that I have had in quite some time.
